OEM VS. AFTERMARKET
WINDSHIELD GLASS

OEM Windshield Glass

An OEM windshield is the closest thing to your vehicles original windshield when it comes to thickness, color, shape, and fit. The quality of OEM glass is virtually identical to that of a vehicles original windshield, as their fabrication follows the standards that car manufacturers have set for their product. When it comes to price, OEM glass is naturally more expensive than OEE for the simple fact that it has the stamp of approval of your vehicles manufacturer.

Aftermarket (OEE) Windshield Glass

Aftermarket (OEE) windshield glass manufacturers are not licensed by car companies to fabricate windshields for specific car models, resulting in a reduced-quality windshield. OEE glass manufacturers are legally prohibited from producing exact replicas of OEM glass, which is why the thickness, color, shape, and fit of aftermarket glass end up being very different. OEE glass may not adhere to the same standards as OEM, but they meet or exceed the Department of Transportation’s minimum safety requirements.

Here at Raleigh Auto Glass, we specialize and offer Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) windshields, and aftermarket windshields.

OEM windshields are manufactured by the same company that made the original windshield for your vehicle. They are typically considered the highest quality option, as they are designed to meet the exact specifications and requirements of your vehicle’s make and model.

Aftermarket windshields are made by companies other than the original manufacturer of your vehicle. They may be less expensive than OEM windshields, but they may not always meet the same quality standards or be made to the exact same specifications.

Second, purchasing auto glass directly from the manufacturer can ensure that you are getting high-quality, genuine glass that is designed to meet the exact specifications and requirements of your vehicle’s make and model.
